ExxonMobil Math Specialist Program

K-5 Mathematics Specialist Program: Developed by ExxonMobil in 1988, the program emphasizes improving learning among students and teachers. It is guided by a belief that student learning improves when teachers have a competent grasp of content, pedagogy and thoughtful assessment practices. The specialist, sometimes called the 'coach', is an experienced teacher who is a proactive resource for other teachers, administrators and parents. Since 1988, the K-5 mathematics specialist program has been a centerpiece in improving students’ and teachers’ understanding of mathematics. During this time ExxonMobil has awarded 350 grants to more than 120 school districts.
